Ruth H. Bubar, age 92, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, formerly of Muskego, Wisconsin and Addison, Illinois, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 8, 2015. She was born February 17, 1923 in Waterboro, Maine to Rev. Philip and Grace Hughey.
As a ministers child, she moved numerous times, growing up in Maine, Massachusetts and New York City. She spent her summers in Allagash, Maine. She attended Wheaton College, Colby College and graduated from Pestalozzi Froebel Teacher's College. In 1942, she married Rev. Joseph B. Bubar. They pastored in North Vassalboro and Acton, Maine, and Pigeon Cove and Fitchburg, Massachusetts. In 1954, he became the General Director of Christian Service Brigade and moved to Addison, Illinois, where she taught in the Addison public school district. In 1969, they moved to Muskego, Wisconsin where they served Calvary Evangelical Free Church. She taught elementary music in the New Berlin School District. She was also very active in her church as the pianist and organist.
In 1976 her husband Joseph went to be with the Lord. She continued to serve in the schools and church until 2012 when she moved to Windsor Park. She has continued to play the piano each day.
Ruth had a tender heart for children. She enjoyed handwork and music. She loved to visit her children in their places of ministry, traveling to Pakistan many times.
She is survived by three children, Mary (Rev. Dave) Davis of Carol Stream, Rev. Joseph Jr. (Charlotte) Bubar of Arroyo Grande, CA, and Rev. Phillip C. (Lisa) Bubar of St. Joseph, MI, six grandchildren, Jonathan (Jennifer) Davis, Joseph III (Kristina) Bubar, Matthew (Andrea) Bubar, Timothy (Kara) Bubar, Daniel (Allison) Bubar and Rachel (Joe) Jones, and 16 great-grandchildren. She was precede in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother, Rev. Philip C. Hughey Jr.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Wheaton. Interment will be held privately at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Elmhurst, Illinois.
