Ruth E. Brownell, age 95, a resident of Bridgeway Senior Living in Bensenville and former resident of Windsor Park, Carol Stream, and Wheaton passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021. She was born June 16, 1925 in Peoria, Illinois to Herbert and Clarabell Brownell and grew up there.

She earned her college degree as an elementary school teacher and spent most of her career teaching 5th grade in Downers Grove, II. She was awarded a"Teacher of the Year" recognition. Ruth was a longtime member of Wheaton Bible Church and Woman to Woman Adult Community and loved to read and study the Word of God. She was also a lover of God's creation, having extensively traveled, hiked and photographed the U.S. and Canada with friends. Along the way, she developed a particular interest in the birds she saw and made many trips to Starved Rock State Park in the winter to see the bald eagles there.

Ruth is survived by her only sibling, Jean Prier, and is survived by two nephews and a niece, David Prier of Montana, Robert Prier of Tucson, and Susan Prier of Los Angeles.

A memorial service will be held at a future date. Memorial gifts may be directed to Wheaton Bible Church .
