Rosemary Gritton, age 96, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died at home on January 22, 2014. She was born October 11, 1917 in Chicago to Otto and Rose Hansen.
She grew up in LaGrange. After attending Business College she worked as a legal secretary in Chicago. She married Donald Gritton on December 15, 1950. They started their life together in Boston, MA where he served in the FBI and their daughter was born. They then moved to Ohio, where their son was born and then returned to the Chicago area in 1955, living in Bellwood and LaGrange Park. In 2006 she moved to Wheaton to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
Rosemary enjoyed playing bridge with her friends from Wheaton Infant Welfare and daily evening meals with family.
She is survived by two children, Rosanne (Harold) Merrill of Wheaton and David (Diane) Gritton of Chicago, three grandchildren, Nicole Gritton, Douglas Merrill and Jeffrey Merrill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald on Dec. 8, 1998, her parents and her sister, Selene and brother, Stephen.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25 from 1 until 3 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton.
