Obituary

Rose Ann Owen-DeSplinter, 81 years old of Wake Forest, passed away surrounded by her family on June 1, 2025. Rose Ann was born on June 29, 1943, in Huntington, NY to the late Gerald and Lucille Tarantino.

Rose Ann graduated from Walt Whitman High School, Huntington Station, NY in1961. After graduating high school, Rose Ann then went on to the Travel Agent Certification program at College of DuPage, Lombard, IL. Beginning her professional life with American Airlines from 1965-1969 caused her to enjoy travel to many different towns, states and countries in her life. She added to her love of travel by completing the Travel Agent program at College of DuPage, Lombard, IL. As she added to her list of grandchildren, she enjoyed traveling around the states to visit and keep up with them. She Attended Calvary Church in Naperville, Il for over 22 years, where she was involved in many volunteer groups including bereavement ministry, Bible studies and mission trips. She also volunteered for many years at a Women's Pregnancy Care Center.

When she moved to North Carolina she was involved with Wakefield Women's Club. At Grace Assembly Church in Wake Forest, she helped host the Tuesday women's Bible study for many years as well as the Grief Recovery Ministry. More recently she and Mike have been faithful attendants at Faith Harvest Church and were active participants in the life of that congregation, specifically in Women's ministry and greeters.

Rose Ann was predeceased by her parents, Gerald and Lucille Tarantino; her first husband William M. Owen Jr., and her stepson Michael DeSplinter. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Michael J. DeSplinter; her daughters, Stacey Fjellman and her husband Peter, Tara Yenrick and her husband Ret. LTC Jason Yenrick, Jennifer DeSplinter and her husband Matt Bennett; her grandchildren Owen & Mackenzie Fjellman, Gabrielle Fjellman, Liam Yenrick & Griffin Bennett; her brother Tony Tarantino and his wife Gayl. Rose Ann is also survived by many other cherished nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law brothers-in-law, relatives and friends, who have brought so much love and meaning to her life.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 10:30am to 11am at Faith Harvest Church, 4737 Willeva Dr, Wake Forest, NC. A Celebration of Life service to follow at 11am. Interment will take place in Wheaton Cemetery, Wheaton, IL on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 11am.
