Rose A. Holan, age 91, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023.  She was born January 11, 1932 in Carroll, Ohio to William & Cora McKnight.

Rose graduated from Ohio State with a B.S. in Medical Technology.  While attending college she was a member of the Swan Club, a synchronized swimming team.  She also met her future husband, Gerald Holan while working at the OSU student union.  They were avid lifetime fans of the Buckeyes.

After marriage they resided in Villa Park and she worked at Elmhurst Hospital.  She was an excellent seamstress who made clothes for her family.  As their family grew they moved to Wheaton where she kept her horse, ducks, chickens and rabbits while running a pre-school known as the Happy Play Farm.

In addition to being very involved in all her children's activities such as 4H, Pony Club, Wheaton Christian Grammar School's Country store and Awana, she also served as an election judge for many years and was a talented artist who enjoyed being part of the Wheaton Art League. She loved Jesus dearly and was a member of Wheaton Bible Church where she studied with a Precept group and served in a quilting/sewing ministry group and mission work.

She is survived by son Gerald (Susan) Holan, Jr. with children Timothy, Jennifer, Amy & Amanda; son Jeff (Heidi) Holan with children Jacob & Luke; and daughter Dr. Anna (David) Snider.  She is also survived by her brother William (the late Margaret) McKnight and her sister Mary (the late John) Vargo.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald, being married nearly 66 years, and her brother Harry (Barbara) McKnight.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park, IL.
