Rose Mary Armstrong, age 84, a beloved resident of Carol Stream for 25 years, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 15, 2024. She was born on January 7, 1940, in Newport, Rhode Island, to Sumner and Frances Armstrong, the seventh of nine children.

Rose spent her early years in Newport, where she completed her high school education. She began her career at the Naval War College, showcasing her dedication and work ethic. In 1980, Rose moved to the Chicago area and continued her professional journey with the American Hospital Association. After relocating to Carol Stream, she dedicated her talents to the Village of Carol Stream until her retirement in 2013.

A devoted Red Sox fan, Rose found joy in cheering for her favorite team. She cherished her loyal dog Chico and her son's dogs, Libby and Bo. Rose delighted in watching game shows and cooking shows with her family, always finding happiness in their company. Family was the cornerstone of her life, and she treasured visits with her extended family.

Rose is survived by her loving son, Ralph (Frances) Armstrong of Carol Stream; her adored grandsons, Christopher and Jonathan Armstrong; her siblings, Virginia Herring and Herbert Armstrong; and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings: James Armstrong, Dorothy Wojnarowski, Florence Bibb, Richard Armstrong, Beverly Winn, and Alice Perry.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home in Carol Stream. A funeral mass will take place on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church.
