Obituary

Ronald Scot Chiodras, age 64, a resident of Wheaton, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024. He was born March 6, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois to Peter and Evodia Chiodras.

Ron was the oldest of three children and was proud of his Greek heritage. Ron met Christy Wildes in the summer of 1987, and they married in January 1990. They were thrilled when God blessed them with three children – Nicholas, Stephanie, and Mark.

His mother, Evodia, led him to accept Jesus as his Savior when he was a young boy. In his 20s, Ron made that faith his own and couldn't get enough of God's Word – studying it and talking about it. He believed passionately in the sanctity of human life and put his time and money where his mouth was, volunteering and serving where he could.

He had a wonderful sense of humor with a quick wit. He delighted in making us laugh – in particular, his wife, and children, and his sister. He could quote movie lines or sing snippets of songs from the 70s or 80s to fit any situation. The only time he ever raised his voice was maybe when watching a Blackhawks game. He had an amazing musical ear and played saxophone when he was in high school. He studied marketing at College of DuPage, and at Northern Illinois University, and worked in the financial services industry through the years. Through Crusade for Christ while at Northern, he met people who would become lifelong friends.

Ron was keenly aware of God's grace and mercy in his life. In the summer of 2003, he was diagnosed with brain cancer – found after a roller blading accident. The prognosis was grim, but the Lord preserved his life another 20 years and allowed him to raise his children and love his wife and family. He even got a THNKFL5 license plate we had for years.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Christy; his children Nicholas, Stephanie, and Mark; his father, Peter; his siblings Norman and Pam (Scott) Hammond. He was preceded in death by his mother, Evodia.
