Robert Vanne, age 79, died suddenly on May 4, while on an outing with the Wheaton Senior Citizen Pedal Pushers. Robert was born on June 9th in Paterson, New Jersey and was a graduate of the University of Illinois, 1949. He had a career in both the paper industry and commercial real estate. He was an avid tennis player and cyclist and was a member of both the Pedal Pushers and Wheaton Seniors Tennis Group. Robert was a frequent contributor to the editorial section of the Daily Herald. He had a strong interest in history, politics, and travel. He was a WWII Navy veteran in the Pacific Theatre.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Fairie; his children; Mark (Stephanie) Mastrogiovanni , Jim (Janet) Vanne, Marilyn Vanne , Steve (Sonja) Vanne, and David Vanne; his grandchildren; Adam and Melissa Mastrogiovanni; Brionna, John and Pierce Vanne.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 8th from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Hultgren Funeral Home at 304 North Main Street, Wheaton, Illinois, with services following at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Don Leo officiating. Interment to follow at Wheaton Cemetery.
