Obituary

Robert W. Seaberg, age 87, a longtime resident of Wheaton, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 25, at Wynscape Nursing Center in Wheaton, Illinois. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware on December 9, 1928 to Carl and Alma Seaberg.

Bob grew up in Wilmington where he graduated from high school and Capitol Radio Institute. He joined the Navy and served as an Electronics Technician from 1950 until 1954. He then took a job with Admiral Corporation in Chicago where he met Mary Lindgren and they were married on March 30, 1957. Bob's career included 25 years at Tektronix as a sales rep and field engineer. From 1962 until 1964 he took a leave of absence to serve as a short-term missionary with HCJB in Quito, Ecuador helping to establish the first television station in that country. After taking an early retirement from Tektronix in 1984, Bob worked in broadcast engineering at Alcoa NEC, WGN, WBBM Radio, and CBS-TV. After retirement, he volunteered for mission organizations including HCJB and WMBI. He developed a "Radio Station in a Suitcase" which is utilized by HCJB (Reach Beyond) all over the world. Bob also owned and operated Seaberg Communications Service offering business band radio to the community for over 40 years.

His faith was an important part of his life and he was an active member of Wheaton Evangelical Free Church (now The Compass Church) where he used his technical skills to broadcast and announce services on WETN Radio. He was a member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers, the Audio Engineering Society and the American Radio Relay League. He was a ham radio enthusiast (W3MDM), avid bike rider, and enjoyed travel—domestic and international.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Seaberg, three children, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Rob (Jennifer) Seaberg of Gilbert, AZ, Lynda (Mark) Richert of Wheaton, and Allyson (Todd) Barron of Wheaton, ten grandchildren, Jamille (Ben) Stolarski, Alia (Michael) Suchomski, Karli (Paul) Dittus, Mari Seaberg, Ryan (Kairsta) Richert, Matthew (Ariana) Richert, Jordan Richert, Elsa Barron, Annika Barron, and Linnea Barron, five great-grandchildren, Robert, Dominic, Joseph, Enna and Chiara.
