IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert
Scorza
October 20, 1946 – June 21, 2024
Robert A. Scorza, age 77, a resident of Schaumburg, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2024. Born on October 20, 1946, in Chicago to Robert and Thelma Scorza, he lived a life marked by resilience, dedication, and love.
Bobby grew up in Chicago, attending Lane Tech High School, where he graduated in 1964. Despite being born with a heart condition and surviving his first surgery in 1961, he persevered, putting himself through college. In 1972, he began a notable career at Motorola.
In 1968, Bobby married Kathie Skoglund, whom he met at church. Their union was one of deep love and partnership, lasting 56 beautiful years. They initially resided in Mt. Prospect and Evanston before settling in Schaumburg in 1971, where they raised their three children. Bobby was deeply involved in the community, particularly through the Schaumburg Athletic Association, where he served as a coach and later as the baseball league commissioner. His passion for racing his Corvette led him to join the Corvette Club, where he made many lasting memories.
Bobby's professional journey was marked by entrepreneurial spirit. After leaving Motorola, he became a manufacturers' representative. In 1977, he founded Whisco Component Engineering/Comtelco Antennas, a manufacturing company he successfully ran for 40 years, demonstrating his business acumen and dedication.
Music was one of Bobby's many passions. He was a talented musician, proficient in piano, guitar, trumpet, and other instruments. A fervent supporter of Chicago sports, he avidly followed the Chicago Bears, White Sox, and University of Illinois teams.
Bobby's legacy lives on through his beloved family: his wife Kathie; his three children, Jonathan (Sherri) Scorza of Mt. Prospect, Todd (Ann) Scorza of Naperville, and Debbie (Scott) Zahorak of Aurora; and his seven grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Derek, Amalia, Elena, Brennan, Andrew, and Makayla. He is also survived by his sister, Janice Scorza of Schaumburg, one aunt, and many cousins. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Thelma Scorza.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Bobby's life will take place on Monday, July 1st, from 3:00pm until 8:00pm at Itasca Country Club, 400 E. Orchard St. Itasca, Illinois in the Lyons Room. A private celebration of his life for the family will take place at a later date. For further information and to sign the guest book, please visit Hultgren Funeral Home or call 630-668-0027.
Bobby will be remembered for his enduring strength, his contributions to the community, his musical talent, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. His life serves as an inspiration to all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital Heart Institute Services.
