Obituary

Robert "Bob" La Rosa Sr., age 84, of Du Page County, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023. He was born on November 15, 1939, to Juan and Blanca LaRosa in Lima, Peru. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family. He will be remembered for his humor, generosity, and willingness to help his friends and family.

Bob lived a fulfilling life, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. He grew up in Lima, Peru and emigrated to the United States in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 until 1964. In 1983 he joined the United States Army Reserve earning several awards and commendations. He served with honor until 2000 when he retired with the rank of Master Sergeant.

He graduated from College of Du Page with a degree in Industrial Management and went on to have a successful career in the manufacturing industry where he served as a warehouse manager and translator.

In his free time, Bob enjoyed playing soccer, playing chess, listening to classical music, and watching movies.

Robert La Rosa, Sr. is survived by his children Robert (Sherry) La Rosa Jr., and John (Kathy) La Rosa, his grandchildren Jacob La Rosa and Angelina La Rosa-Garza, Mary J. La Rosa (ex-wife), and siblings, Juan, Carlos, Carmen, Nelly, Enrique, and Alberto, along with a host of loving family and friends who will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents as well as two brothers, Arturo and Lucho.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 24 at 3:00 p.m. at Glen Arbor Community Church, 204 Church Street, West Chicago, IL 60185. Military honors and inurnment will be held on Monday, March 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.

Robert La Rosa Sr. will be deeply missed but will live on in the hearts and memories of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
