Robert R. Parker, age 90, a resident of Wichita, Kansas, died December 28, 2021. He was born September 19, 1931 in Madison, Tennessee to Frank and Vera Parker.
He served in the Korean war and was honorably discharged in 1955. He married Pearline in Chicago on July 9th, 1957. They were married until her death in 1997. He survived being hit by a truck in 1989. He was a talented handyman, gardener and fisherman. He worked as a laborer on farms and in the auto industry for many years.
He is survived by his sister Leola Shanks of Gallatin, TN, by seven children: Debra LaCour, Phyllis (Don) Derix, Robin (Tony) Hernandez, Robert (Mary) Parker, Shirley (Bob) Short, Caroline Gentry and Lisa (Alfredo) Borbor, by twenty-one grandchildren: Deena (John) Toben, Philip (Anna) Martinez, Eva (Tyson) Simmons, Ian Hernandez, Robert Parker, Matthew Parker, Christina Parker, Samantha Rivera, Angelo Rivera, Melody (Shane) Dennis, Rachel (Ryan) Cox, Ruben (Samantha) Melendez, Marquess (Patricia) Melendez, Ivan (Desiree) Melendez, Alicia (Mark) Wiech, Trisha (Jordan) Bishop, Denise Short, Michael Gentry, Jessica Ortiz, Bianca Duprey, and Mateo Borbor as well as many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Vera, siblings, Floyd and William, wife, Pearline, son, Gerald LaCour, grandson Angelo Nieves
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St, Wheaton, where a service will be held at 8:00 p.m.
Military Honors and interment will be held on Saturday, January 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Maryhill Cemetery in Niles, Illinois.
