Robert Edward North, of Lake Forest, Illinois passed away on December 9, 2020. He was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota on December 30, 1936, to the late Mabel and Dr. Edward O. North.

He graduated from Lake Forest High School and Lake Forest College. Robert was employed as a Sr. Systems Analyst for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad until his retirement.

He met his beloved wife Karen and were married for 54 years. He is survived by his two sons, Robert (Katherine) and Stephen (Brooke), and devoted grandchildren: Robert III, Megan and Emily.

Bob and Karen were longtime residents of Lake Forest where they raised their family. Bob was a kind and gentle man, a loving and faithful husband, and most of all, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. The couple were founding members of Libertyville Covenant Church, as well as supporting a church back in North Dakota. He dearly loved historical train watching as a hobby, and often traveled to watch as big locomotives rumbled through small-town stations.

Private family services will take place at Lake Forest Cemetery.
