Robert W. Nordlof, age 62, a lifelong resident of the Wheaton Countryside/ Glendale Heights area, was suddenly called home on Monday, September 26, 2016. He was born November 7, 1953 in Oak Park to Robert and Shirley Nordlof.
Bob attended Gary School in West Chicago, Glen Hill and Queen Bee School in Glendale Heights. He graduated from Glenbard North High School and attended the College of DuPage. He met Gayle Maturo and they were married on May 18, 1974. He worked for Ockerlund Contractors, HCB of Dallas, TX and Itasca Construction Associates in Itasca, IL.
As he raised his children, he was the proud coach of the Iron Eagles Soccer Team. He enjoyed early retirement, gardening, photography, road trips, was a die hard Chicago White Sox fan, and followed the Blackhawks and Bears, but most of all spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time at the Morton Arboretum. All who knew Bob knew he was a huge BEATLES Fan. His strong faith motivated him to be actively involved at St. John Lutheran Church for 38 years.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle Nordlof, three children, Amanda (Ryan) Fiedler of Elmhurst, Steven Nordlof, and Britt-Marie (Bill) Lee of Bartlett, his three grandchildren, who were in his "best friend and buddy club", Jordan, Lauren and Andrew. Daughter by love Jackie (Jeff) Gullett and their children Leah and Mason. He is also survived by three siblings, Harriett (Tom) Johnson, Donald (Shawn) Nordlof and Tracey Vendegna, nieces and nephews, Julie, Chuck, Paul, Tabitha, Gage, Cera, Alex and Adam, a great-nieces and nephews and his loyal dog, Pippa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 29, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 30, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church.
