Robert Edson Muzzy, age 96, of Carol Stream, Il went to be with the Lord on March 16, 2016. Bob was born to Guy Rand and Emmalyn Drews Muzzy at his home in Elmhurst, IL on September 1, 1919. His diligent work ethic began at a young age as he delivered newspapers, caddied, and waited tables.
Bob graduated from York High School in Elmhurst in 1937 and attended Antioch College and Northwestern University. He married his sweetheart, Ruth Marie Pfund, on April 10, 1943 and was drafted into the US Army six months later where he served for 2 years in the Philippines during WWII.
After the war, Mr. Muzzy had a successful 40+ year career as a manufacturer's representative growing his business and proudly representing companies that engaged Muzzy and Peters Co. for its services. He truly enjoyed talking with customers and helping their businesses be successful.
The Muzzys spent most of their years in the Wheaton area. Bob loved the Lord and was a faithful member of College Church, Wheaton, IL, willingly stepping into various positions and his affinity for numbers made the church treasurer a natural fit for him. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, stamp collecting, and watching sports, especially March Madness. He enjoyed driving for hours in the car whether for sales calls or taking the family on adventurous cross country trips.
He and Ruth traveled overseas several times visiting missionaries and exploring Europe, Scandinavia, and Asia. A lifetime highlight was his trip to Washington DC on the WWII Veteran's Honor Flight.
Bob's true joy was his wife and family. Ruth, the children, and the many grandchildren and great grandchildren fondly remember time spent together during the holidays and at their summer home on Planting Ground Lake in Three Lakes, WI. Bob's generous spirit was evident in his willingness to extend hospitality and support to all he knew. His sense of humor always kept the mood lively. He was young at heart and a fine example of quiet confidence as he trusted the Lord for everything.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Frederick and James, sons-in-law Alec Miner and Ronald Teiwes and daughter-in-law Cheryl Watson. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, daughter Susan Teiwes of Wheaton, IL, son Richard Muzzy of Middleton, MA, son Ken (Carol) Muzzy of West Chicago, IL, daughter Ann (Kevin) Kelley of Winfield, IL,12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
