Obituary

Bob Mellott, 79, passed peacefully into eternal life on October 1, 2007.

He was born January 1, 1928 in Dixon, Illinois. Bob received his B.A. from DePauw University and his Masters in Speech Communications from Indiana University. He enjoyed a career on the cutting edge of television broadcast starting as a producer director for CBS in Charlotte, North Carolina. It was during this time that he met Carolyn, his wife of 47 years. After moving to Chicago, he worked for N.W. Ayer Advertising before spending the next 29 years at Foote, Cone and Belding Advertising Agency retiring as Vice President of Commercial Services. Bob and Carolyn raised their family in Wheaton where they resided for 41 years.

He will be remembered for his faith in God and a life lived reflecting that faith, as well as his genuine caring and interest in others. For Bob, his family and people that crossed his path in life always came first. He was greatly loved and respected for a life lived without regret and standing for the principles he believed in.

Bob was active at Gary Memorial Methodist Church as a member of the Pastor Parish Committee, Publicity and Parish Relations Committee, and Sunday School teacher then later as a Trustee at the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church before moving to Cincinnati, Ohio three years ago. He had a love for music, travel, photography, geneology and landscaping.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn; three children, Lynn (Steve) Finzer of Cincinnati, Ohio; Susan Dodge of Laguna Beach, California; David (Laura) Mellott of Stevenson Ranch, California; five grandchildren, Robin and Kelli Finzer, Gabe Dodge and Aerin and Cassidy Mellott; and his sister Glenyce (Joe) Teskoski of Lake Forest, Illinois, brother and sister-in-law Barry (Birdie) Frink of Shallotte, North Carolina; and three nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 6 at 10 a.m. prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, Illinois with interment to follow at Wheaton Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Parkinsons Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Ave, Staten Island, New York 10301.
