Father, brother, and fellow burner, Robert "Bob" McSweeney, left this world on December 10, 2023 after 76 years of cherished memories, facing life's challenges with a cheerful spirit and enduring love that helped guide and uplift his family in sickness and in health.

Bob was born on June 25, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois to Robert and Marion McSweeney. A veteran who served in the Armed Forces and volunteered at the American Legion, he loved his country, family, and Hostess cupcakes. Bob was an avid hiker, cyclist, kayaker, rocker, and roller. He enjoyed reading, classic car shows, and trips to Galena, Machu Picchu, Burning Man, and Boise, to name just a few. He spent his days as a remodeler, starting a business with two partners in 1979.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Michele McSweeney, his brother, James McSweeney and his parents, Robert and Marion McSweeney.

He is survived by his two sons, Robert (Theresa) McSweeney and Jason McSweeney, his four grandchildren, Jason, Donavan, Payton, and Robby, and many nieces and nephews. He was a loving brother to Kathleen Kelly, and Michael and Jim McSweeney.

A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, December 16th, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, Illinois, where friends and family can gather to share stories of their time together.

Memorial gifts may be directed to The Conservation Foundation to continue Bob's commitment to the preservation and protection of natural lands.
