Robert F. McHale, age 83, a resident of Carol Stream for 48 years, died at home on Saturday, March 8. He was born on July 1, 1924 in Wilkes-Barre, PA to Michael and Helen McHale.
Robert was a veteran of the US Army, having served during W.W.II in both the Pacific and Europe. After the war he worked with the Veterans Administration and retired in 1983 from the Hines Data Processing Center. He married Patricia Fahey on June 7, 1952.
He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, where he was a past Grand Knight of the Wheaton Council, Past District Deputy, Past State Warden, Past Faithful Navigator, Past Master of the Northern District of the Fourth Degree, and was a member of the Third Degree Team. He was a lifelong member of the VFW and had been Sr. Vice Commander in Kingston, PA.
He is survived by his children Michael McHale of Glen Ellyn and Linda (Gary) Court of Carol Stream, four grandchildren, Michael, Ryan, Patrick and Meghan, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia in 2004 and his parents.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 16, from 2 until 8 p.m. at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. A mass will be held on Monday, March 17 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, 421 Cochise Ct. in Carol Stream. Prayers will begin at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Interment will be held at Assumption Cemetery.
