Robert J.
Marshall
February 19, 1941 – October 26, 2016
Robert James Marshall was born to Edward and Ruth Marshall on February 19, 1941 in Chicago, IL. He was the second of five children.
When Bob was in first grade his family moved from Chicago to a small farm in Crown Point, IN. They continued to maintain many friendships at Robert's Memorial Gospel Hall on 86 th Street, in Chicago, where they returned for the New Year's Programs and Sunday School Picnics.
Bob accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior at age eight after a Sunday night gospel meeting. He was led to the Lord by his Dad on Christmas Eve 1949.
He married Elizabeth Suzanne Kennedy on June 15, 1963 in Chicago, IL at Robert's Memorial. They enjoyed 53 years of a Christ-honoring, loving marriage.
Bob worked in electrical commercial construction for thirty-six years as a foreman, working on jobs throughout the Chicago-land area. He used these skills to serve Christian ministries throughout the years.
Bob's greatest joy was to serve his Lord and Savior. As a newlywed he was asked to direct the high school winter weekend at Lake Geneva Youth Camp, Lake Geneva, WI, then called Snowball Week-end. Bob had attended this camp as a child. This led to over 45 years of involvement in LGYC as a camp counselor, Camp Committee Member, Conference Point Center Convener and volunteer electrician, painter, roofer, and once even helped install the piers for the summer. More recently, he volunteered at Living Waters Bible Camp in Westby, WI. Bob also served on the committee for the Chicago-land Missionary Guest Apartments as well as a board member of Stewards Foundation.
Bob enjoyed fellowship at Lombard Gospel Chapel for the past sixteen years, where he taught Sunday School, served as a Deacon and was involved in the renovation of the building.
He is survived by his wife Beth, his much loved children, Robert (Kimberly) Marshall, Graham (Michelle) Marshall and Laura (Shah) Mobed along with his brothers, James (Marsha) and Bruce (Bonnie).
He also is survived by his completely loved and adored grandchildren: Elliot Graham Marshall, Sarah Elizabeth Mobed, Wesley Garret Marshall, Kyle Ross Mobed, Calvin Kennedy Marshall, Ian Alexander Marshall, Clayton Robert Mobed, and Aubrey Parvine Mobed. Bob leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, his mother, his brother, Edward (Judith) and sister Betty Jane (John) Sterk.
Bob was diagnosed with Frontal-Temporal Dementia six years ago and continued volunteering before life became difficult for him. He was cared for by his wife, Beth, until doctors felt he needed full-time care. He spent the last two years of his life at Autumn Leaves of St. Charles, lovingly cared for by the devoted staff there.
