Robert A. Halleman, age 86, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died Thursday, March 8, 2012, at home. He was born August 20, 1925 in Wheaton.
Bob was a life-long resident of Wheaton. He attended Wheaton Community High School - Class of '43. After brief organ study at Wheaton College and Chicago Conservatory of Music he was elected a Colleague of the American Guild of Organists in 1943. He worked 11 years for the New York Central Railroad. Subsequently he worked for the Rodgers Organ Company for five years and then became their franchised dealer for both Rodgers electronic/pipe organs and Fratelli-Ruffatti pipe organs in greater Chicagoland including part of both Wisconsin and Indiana for 21 years. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church since 1940 where he served as organist for over 25 years and was active in the senior JOY group. He also belonged to the Mended Hearts group at Central Dupage Hospital and was a charter member of the Windy City Organ Club.
He is survived by several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Violet.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a funeral service to be held at 11:00 a.m. St. John Lutheran Church,
410 N. Cross Street, Wheaton, IL 60187. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.
