Robert "Bob" Hahn, age 90, a former longtime resident of Park Ridge, currently of Monarch Landing in Naperville, passed away on May 4, 2018. He was born in Graham, Kentucky, the youngest of eight children born to Worden and Mary Azile Hahn.
Bob grew up on a farm in Kentucky. He left the farm during his high school years and moved to Everett, Washington to live with his sister, Newell Neuman, and her family. The family later moved to Lake Bluff, Illinois and Bob graduated from Lake Forest High School in Illinois. Following high school, Bob graduated from Bowling Green State University in Ohio with a degree in Business Administration. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in the early 1950s. After completing his military service, Bob lived and worked in Cincinnati, OH for several years, eventually moving to Illinois. He met Barbara Yowell at a Presbyterian church in Oak Park, Illinois and they were married in July of 1963. They lived in Park Ridge where they were active at the First United Methodist Church of Park Ridge. They later attended South Park Church in Park Ridge, and finally, the Orchard Church of Arlington Heights. Following his wife's death in 2014, Bob attended Community Baptist Church in Warrenville, IL.
Bob worked in credit management for Westinghouse, Square D Corporation, Weyerhaeuser and Reliance Elevator Company. He loved gardening, golfing, hunting, dancing, and watching sports, as well as theater, movies and walks in the park. He was a kind and loving people person and he enjoyed giving and receiving hugs.
He is survived by his daughter, Julia (Kurt) Erickson of Wheaton, his grandchildren, Caleb and Peyton, one sister, Martha Bengston, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, his parents and 6 siblings.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 11, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
