Robert W. Garvey, age 87, a resident of Wheaton for 18 years, died August 12, 2004 at The Breakers in Chicago. He was born on May 11, 1917 in Chicago.
Bob was a graduate of Amundsen High School in Chicago. He served in the US Air Force and worked as an engineer for Sargeant and Lundy and U.S. Gypsum. In 1969, he became President of Wilson Engineering Corporation where he served until retiring in 1982. He was an active member of the Central Du Page Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed golf and fishing.
He is survived by his children, Michael (Judith) Garvey of Chicago and Susan (Larry) Recknagel of Landrum, SC, eight grandchildren, Sarah, Scott, Tara, Rachel, Shannon, Faye, Kirsten and Andrew.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Rita.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, September 18, from 2 until 5 p.m. at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, where a service will be held at 4:00.
