IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Nelson
Drucker
June 1, 1995 – July 7, 2022
Robert Nelson Drucker, known as Bobby to those he loved best, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 7 th . He is survived by his grieving family – his mother, Sharon Argotsinger; his father, Bob Drucker; his sister, Haley Drucker; his brother, Keith Drucker; and his grandmother, Betty Argotsinger.
From the moment of his birth, Bobby was a kind and gentle soul. His June arrival at Edward Hospital in Naperville, Illinois was a long-awaited blessing to his parents and his elder sister. Throughout his all-to-brief 27 years with us, he continued to share that blessing with everyone around him.
Bobby attended school in his home city of Naperville, graduating from Central High School in 2014. During his formative years, he found happiness in various hobbies and passions. Among other things, he enjoyed church youth group activities, learning Taekwondo, playing card games and watching Doctor Who with his circle of friends at school, and participating in anime fandom.
Those who knew Bobby will remember him as a young man of many contradictions. He presented to the world a quiet and reserved face, behind which was a mind always observing and considering. He was a passionate gamer and a lover of stories, as well as a dedicated worker who took pride in doing his part. He valued soulful music, and found solace in the quiet spaces of nature. He was a faithful child of God.
Above all, Bobby loved his family and found his place in supporting those around him as best he could. He was a perfect listener and a ready companion, and he put the needs of others above his own – ever willing to lend a helping hand. Outside of his family and work, he also found meaning in the churches he attended. In turn, they appreciated his gentle, faithful presence and his skillful service as a sound board operator.
In the short story collection "As Far as You Can Go Without a Passport", Tom Bodett reminisces about waiting at a stop light and glimpsing a woman crying alone in her car. Although Bodett would never know that woman's story, the encounter stayed with him forever.
It reminded him to be an active part of the 'GNT' (the Group that Notices Things), and to never be so absorbed in his own life that he forgot to keep an eye out for the tears of a stranger. Bobby took this story and others like it to heart. He spent his adult life as a helpful and compassionate member of the GNT, always attuned to the needs and struggles of others.
While we mourn his passing, we know that Bobby is resting in the loving arms of our Father in Heaven, where the trials and hurts of this earth can no longer touch him. Rather than retreating into ourselves, Bobby would want us to remember to turn outwards, to see the humanity in everyone around us, and to reach out with love every day – just as he did.
A viewing will be held Thursday, July 14 th from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Faith Covenant Church in Wheaton. The funeral service will immediately follow at the same location, from 6:30 to approximately 7:30 p.m. Afterwards, Bobby will be taken to rest near his grandfather, Eldon Nelson Argotsinger, in the Dow City Cemetery in Dow City, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that charitable gifts be directed to Child's Play or Caring Network – charities that speak to Bobby's love of games and compassion for those in need.
