Robert F. Couture, age 85, a resident of Wheaton, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2005 at Belmont Village in Carol Stream. He was born on September 23, 1919 to Joseph and Alma Couture in Racine, WI.
He was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, class of 1943. In 1944 he married Jean Stein. Together, as missionaries in India with The Evangelical Alliance Mission (TEAM), they were involved in a variety of ministries, including village evangelism, directing a boarding school for boys, leading Bible studies and assisting in the work of translation and publication of Christian literature. They returned to the States in 1963 and in 1970 moved to Wheaton.
He continued with TEAM as a representative and a counselor to missionary appointees. He was a longtime member of the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Ruth (Charles) Hart of Marion, Iowa and Carol Couture of Walworth, WI; one son, Jim (Kathi) Couture of Wheaton; five grandchildren, Krystina (Geoff) Wise, Julie (Mark) Farrell and Lisa Couture, and Gordon Hart and Jeannette (Leo) Wilox; three great-grandchildren, James Wise, Kyla and Elise Farrell, and a sister, Esther Betts of Racine, WI.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, in 1996, his parents and a brother, Eugene Couture.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 21, from 9:30 until the time of a service at 11:00 a.m. at Wheaton Evangelical Free Church, 520 E. Roosevelt Road, Wheaton. Interment will be held at Wheaton Cemetery.
