Robert Emil Butikofer, age 91, a resident of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, and formerly of Highland, IN, died Sunday, October 23, at Windsor's Johnson Healthcare Center. He was born March 6, 1914 in Chicago.
Robert earned a Bachelor degree in Chemistry and graduated Phi Kappa Phi from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA. He then studied Chemical Engineering at the Graduate School of Illinois Institute of Technology. He worked for 41 years for Amoco Oil Co. as a division manager in the manufacture of petroleum products. He enjoyed the arts and was a practiced photographer, gardener, and painter. He loved to travel and had been all over the world collecting mementos wherever he went.
He is survived by his son, Robert S. (fiance' Eileen Hooper); and his three grandchildren, R. Scott, Jeffrey (fiance' Dana Semler), and James.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janis; and his sister, Esther.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 26, from 1:00 P.M. until the time of a service at 2:00 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. Interment will be private.
