Obituary

Robert Burton Swanson, age 88, a resident of the Holmstad in Batavia, died Monday, September 10, at the Holmstad's Michealsen Health Care Center. He was born December 3, 1918 in Minneapolis, MN.

Robert earned a Bachelors' Degree from the University of Minnesota prior to serving in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a flight instructor and flew cargo. Following the war he worked as an accountant with Studebaker Worthington Corp. He finished his career as a tax auditor for the State of Indiana. He and his wife, Eunice, were always active in their local churches. They attended Emmanuel Methodist Church in Minneapolis, Long Hill Chapel in Chatham, NJ, and First Baptist Church of Wheaton.

He is survived by his two children, Wayne (Joan) Swanson of Madison, NJ, and Marlene (Ward) Rau of West Chicago; six grandchildren, Eric, Christopher (Lydia), Stefan (fiance' Samantha), and Gwen (fiance' Brian Vigorito) Swanson, and Jeff (Meg) Rau, and Jessica (Adam) Lofbomm.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Eunice; four brothers; and one sister.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 12, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of a service at 11:00 A.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be directed to the Heritage Fund at First Baptist Church of Wheaton, 1310 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187.
