Richard C.
Wills
December 6, 1934 – March 27, 2022
Richard Wills, age 87, a resident of Tomah, WI, and formerly of Mt. Prospect, IL, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 27, 2022. He was born December 6, 1934 in Chicago to Clarence and Alice Wills. His mother passed away when he was an infant, so he was raised by his father and his grandmother, Linda.
Richard grew up in Chicago and graduated from Lane Technical High School, where he excelled with technology. He met Grace Hedberg while attending the University of Illinois at Navy Pier. They were married on January 26, 1957. He served in the U.S. Army.
Richard worked for 36 years at IBM as a customer engineer. In retirement he continued to keep up with technology and generously offered his computer expertise to family and friends. He was precise and methodical and could repair almost anything. In 1997, he and Grace moved to his dad's "farm" in New Lisbon, WI.
His faith was an important part of his life. As a child his father took him to the Moody Church, and he enjoyed worshipping with Moody online when he was unable to attend his own church. He was a member of Cumberland Baptist Church in Mt. Prospect and then Bible Evangelical Free Church of Tomah, Wisconsin.
Richard and Grace were married for 58 years until she passed away August 8, 2015. He married Janet Jax on June 18, 2016. In 2019, they sold his beloved family farm and moved to Tomah, WI. Richard and Janet enjoyed an active life with their "OWLS" friends until he developed ALS.
He is survived by his wife, Janet, three children; Linda (Mike) Medhurst, Brenda (Greg) Leppert, Brad (Judy) Wills, step-daughter, Dorrie (Danny) Calkins, and seven grandchildren; Gregory Leppert, Nate Medhurst, Jordan (Shuang) Wills, Melissa (Britton) Haynes, Samantha Wills, Justin Wills, and Jonathan Leppert.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 6 with visitation at 10 am, service at 11 am and lunch following the service at Bible Evangelical Free Church, 625 W. Veterans St, Tomah, WI 54660 with Pastor Tim Erickson officiating.
