Richard B. Van Norman, age 73, a resident of Wheaton, IL, went to be with the Lord on January 29, 2009 after a courageous three year battle with cancer. He died at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. He was born December 6, 1935 in Aurora, IL.

Richard was raised in Naperville, IL. He graduated from Naperville High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960. Richard was the owner of Van Norman Decorating. He was an active member of Wheaton Bible Church.

He was the beloved husband of Molly (nee Clark) for forty-three years; loving father of Kevin (Gale) Van Norman, and Kandee (Matt) Simpson, both of Wheaton, IL, and also of David (Judith) Van Norman of Chesapeake, VA; devoted grandfather of Colin, Keegan and Christian Simpson, and Christopher Van Norman; dear brother of David (Sondra) Van Norman of North Aurora, IL, Mary (Earl) Appleby of Spokane, WA, Dan (Ann) Van Norman of Verona, WI, Jane (Ron) Morris of Littleton, CO, Mark Van Norman of Eugene, OR, Tim (Peggy) Van Norman of Tucson, AZ, Pete (Jenny) Van Norman of Downers Grove, IL, and Beth Kuchler of Clarendon Hills, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Truman and Abigail; and his sister, Sally.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, from 3-9 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. A celebration of Richard's life will be held on Saturday, January 31, at 1:00 P.M. at Wheaton Bible Church, 27W500 North Ave., in West Chicago, IL. Interment is private at Wheaton Cemetery.
