Richard W. Rausch, age 71, a long time resident of Glen Ellyn, died Sunday, May 20, at home. He was born November 4, 1935 in Oak Park, IL.

Richard taught Elementary School in Glen Ellyn, and then taught High School at Morton West in Berwyn. He earned an advanced degree in Education at the University of Missouri and began his Administrative career as an Associate Principal at Shawnee-Mission South High School in Overland Park, KS. He came to the Wheaton School District as an Assistant Principal and then Principal of Wheaton Central High School. He then served as Principal at Edison Middle School, and finally worked as a District Administrator before retiring. His interests included a large private nature preserve that he and his family developed near Columbia, MO.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Helen; his three sons, Dale Rausch of Naperville, Duane Rausch of Columbia, MO, and Trent (Angie) Barringer of Sheboygan, WI; two grandchildren, Nicholas Rausch, and Erica Barringer; his daughter-in-law, Patty Rausch of Carol Stream; and two brothers, Donald (Dot) of Matteson, IL, and James (Judy) Rausch of Kokomo, IN; his mother-in-law, Juanita Hohmann of Lansing, IL; his aunt, Betty Anderson of Olathe, KS; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Bernice Rausch.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 24, from 3-8 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 25, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel at Wheaton Bible Church, at the corner of Main and Franklin Streets. Interment is private.
