Richard P.
Ramsson
April 6, 1948 – January 7, 2017
Richard P. Ramsson passed away peacefully at home on January 7, 2017. He was born on April 6, 1948 to Wilbur Oscar and Eileen (Cummings) Ramsson.
He was second oldest of four, being survived by older brother Robert and younger sister Janet. He is preceded in death by brother James, and parents Wilbur and Eileen.
After serving two tours of duty in Vietnam, Richard returned to school at the University of Illinois at Chicago for Business. A jack of all trades, he ran his own landscaping business, contracting company, worked in business, and his favorite job: caring for his grandson.
He was an avid supporter of his fellow soldiers and a member of the American Legion. He had a passion for classic cars, woodworking, and contracting work: he was truly a craftsman. He loved kids, history, and spending time with family.
He is survived by his children Gretchen (John) Brashler and Eric (Sarah) Ramsson and the mother of his children Elizabeth (Higgins) Ramsson. Finally, he is survived by his grandson and best friend, Ethan Brashler.
In lieu of flowers, Rick would have preferred a donation in his memory to either the Wounded Warrior Project ( https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org ) or the American Legion ( https://www.legion.org ).
A celebration of his life will occur in April.
