Richard E. Peterson, Jr., age 56, a beloved resident of Lombard, IL, passed away suddenly, entering into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, August 4, 2024. Born on October 27, 1967, in Chicago, IL, to Richard and Tonie Peterson, Rick's life was marked by love, faith, and dedication.

Rick spent his early years in Skokie, IL, before moving with his family to Florida, where he attended Naples Christian Academy. After returning to the Chicago area, he graduated from Christian Liberty Academy in 1985. He pursued higher education at Southern Illinois University and later earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, graduating Cum Laude from Northeastern University in 1993.

A dedicated professional, Rick worked at Moody Press in Chicago for over 24 years, where he was highly regarded for his commitment and work ethic. He later joined Biehl and Biehl in Carol Stream, IL, continuing to exemplify diligence and integrity in his career.

On Valentine's Day, Rick made a romantic and memorable proposal to his best friend and love of his life, Kathy, during a carriage ride through downtown Chicago. Their loving marriage was a testament to their deep bond and shared values.

Rick was an avid sports enthusiast, passionately supporting his favorite Chicago teams. He had a keen interest in sports cars, enjoying the thrill of spotting special models. A kind and loving man, Rick cherished his family and valued his Christian faith deeply. He was an active member of Parkview Church in Glen Ellyn, where he and Kathy led a small group, providing spiritual guidance and fellowship to others. Rick was known for his principled character and unwavering commitment to doing what was right.

Rick is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy Peterson of Lombard, his beloved step-daughter, Kristina (Ryan) Callahan, his loving mother, Tonie, his dear brother, Tony (MaryBeth), and his cherished nephews, Bradley, Benjamin, and Nathan. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard E. Peterson, Sr.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with interment at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, IL. Rick's warm spirit, kind heart, and enduring faith will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
