Obituary
Richard E. Mischnick, age 78, a resident of Carol Stream, died Thursday, March 2 at the Central Du Page Hospital in Winfield. He was born on February 6, 1928 in Lancaster, PA to Walter and Lillian Mischnick.
He served in the Merchant Marines for six years. He then served in the US Army as a paratrooper. Richard worked as an aviation mechanic for 34 years, retiring from Northwest Airlines in 1990. He was a member of 1489 Airline Retirees and a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton.
Richard is survived by his wife of 38 years, Donna, one daughter, Beth Mischnick of Bethlehem, PA, two sisters, Betty (Edward) Huegel and Sara (Park) Lefever both of Lancaster, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 6, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Main and Seminary St. in Wheaton .
Memorials may be directed to the church.
