IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard E.
Davis
November 16, 1932 – June 15, 2023
Richard E. Davis, age 90, a resident of Naperville IL, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023. He was born on November 16, 1932, to Henry & Gertrude Davis in the kitchen of his grandfather's farmhouse in Canal Fulton, Ohio. He enjoyed childhood memories of how a typical farm boy should – doing multiple chores, caring for his beloved 4H animals and engaging in antics typical of a small-town farm boy in the 1930's and 1940's.
After high school, Dick proudly served in the United States Air Force and spent most of his four years with the 81st Fighter Interceptor Wing in Bentwaters, England. Following the service, Dick attended and graduated from Kent State University with a B.S. in Business. It was at Kent State University he and Joan Zimmer met through Phi Delta Theta fraternity and were married in September of 1959.
Dick had a successful business career in the Chicagoland area with Chicago Faucet and Elkay Manufacturing. He was responsible for international sales and marketing. His work took him around the world and as a result completed three passport books.
After retirement Dick and Joan enjoyed 25 wonderful years at their home in Canadian Lakes, Michigan. It served as homebase for countless holidays and long weekends for his growing family. Dick and Joan returned to Illinois in 2017 to be closer to their family.
Dick is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joan; his two daughters, Janet (Eric Schmidt) Davis & Peggy (James) Williams; his grandchildren Brian (Lindsay), Sarah (Max), Meghan, Kyle (Caroline), Ryan, Chad (Ashley), Reed, & Brecklen; three great-granddaughters Lottie, Olivia, & Amelia; nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his brother Harlan and sister Jane.
Memorial gifts may be directed to the Salvation Army or Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans, Inc. in Wheaton, IL.
