Riccardo Nunziati, 89 years old, born in October 1939 to Domenica Andolfi, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2026, in Winfield, Illinois, surrounded by family.

Riccardo was born in Naples, Italy, and grew up in the small town of Montefiascone with his parents Domenica and Raffaele Nunziati. As a young man, Riccardo studied sartorial arts before moving to Chicago in 1963. Through his hard work and determination, he learned English, became a naturalized citizen, and embodied the American Dream.

Riccardo married his childhood sweetheart Bianca Torri, also from Montefiascone, on September 26, 1964, in Wilmette. Together, they built a business in Hinsdale: Riccardo’s Tailor Shop, where Riccardo and Bianca designed and made custom men’s clothing and suits. Riccardo was very driven. He learned to trade stocks and commodities and also managed rental properties in Hinsdale. Riccardo and Bianca lived in Hinsdale and Oak Brook with their three children.

Riccardo was a man who worked hard, celebrated life, and lived well. Riccardo adored his wife, children, grandchildren, and his many friends, whom he treated like family. Riccardo and Bianca worked hard to ensure their children received the education that both he and Bianca did not have the opportunity to pursue.

To escape midwestern winters, Riccardo and Bianca moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 2009. Although they missed their family, they met many wonderful people with whom they enjoyed spending time.

Riccardo loved traveling to Italy and visiting his hometown. He also traveled much of the world with his wife. Riccardo enjoyed playing cards, especially Italian card games, and rooting for his favorite Italian soccer teams. Riccardo’s love for his family and friends was evident in his everyday actions. He enjoyed sharing his love for Italian music, food, and wine with his friends, and most of all, spending time with his family.

Riccardo will be especially missed by his children, Cathy Nunziati Nusgart (Jonathan), Riccardo Mario (“Rick”) Nunziati (Alison Abel), Sabrina Nunziati, and his eight grandchildren: Julia, Nicholas, Natalie, Sophie, Alec, Daniella, Anthony, and Vincent.

We will honor and celebrate his life with a wake at Hultgren’s Funeral Home at 304 N. Main Street, Wheaton on Saturday September 26th, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church at 310 S. Wheaton Avenue on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation in his honor to your charity of choice.
