On July 27, 1941, a radiant spirit named Renate Ostertag entered this world in Uhingen, Germany, beginning a journey that touched the lives of many. At the age of 82, Renate peacefully embraced the arms of eternity on September 13 2023, succumbing to natural causes in South Elgin, IL, surrounded by the love and warmth that she had shared throughout her remarkable life.
Born to Albert Steinbuch and Frida Traub, Renate's early years in Germany were marked by the foundations of love, family, song, religion and the evolution of her compassionate nature. From a young age, Renate was drawn to the comforting embrace of faith and was a shining example of unwavering devotion, attending church services faithfully, and actively participating in various religious activities including singing religious songs and hymns with a voice that lifted the spirits of those around her. As her life's path unfolded, Renate's adventures led her to various countries, states and cultures, creating an assortment of experiences that enriched the lives of those around her.
Renate's journey found her living in Europe and communities of Glen Ellyn, IL, Bloomingdale, IL, and Elgin, IL, where her presence was an inspiration, and her life was filled with love, resilience, and deep connections.
Renate's heart was forever marked by the memory of her late husband, George Ostertag, whose enduring love and companionship enriched her life in countless ways. Together, they experienced life's joys and challenges, leaving a lasting mark on their family and friends. Renate also endured sorrow in the loss of her granddaughter, Madison Ostertag, a cherished soul who departed all too soon.
Yet, life has a way of opening new chapters, and Renate's story continued with the support and companionship of her current spouse, Roger Seddon. Together, they made a new life, demonstrating that the heart has a capacity to find comfort and grow a new relationship even among life's difficulties.
