Obituary

Raymond Sauter, age 80, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, and formerly of Wheaton, died Saturday, May 30, at the Johnson Medical Center at Windsor Park. He was born on October 13, 1928, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Carl and Mae Sauter.

Ray was a graduate of Northeast Philadelphia High School and attended Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. On January 27, 1951, he married Lillian Valentine in Philadelphia. They moved to Wheaton, IL in 1965 when Ray was transferred by Sears to Chicago.

He served in the Navy during the Korean War as a Communications Technician on the island of Guam. He was employed by Sears for 45 years, starting as a warehouseman and advancing to an executive level.

Ray enjoyed serving in his local church as an elder, Bible teacher, and Battalion Captain with the Christian Service Brigade. He was actively involved as a member of College Church in Wheaton for 21 years and then as a member of Keeneyville Bible Church and Village Church of Bartlett. After he retired in 1990, Ray and Lillian volunteered with Mobile Missionary Assistance Program (MMAP), where they traveled more than four months a year as missionaries. After moving to Windsor Park Manor, Ray continued serving the Lord by teaching Bible studies and ministering as a Chaplain's Assistant.

Raymond is survived by his three children, Raymond E. (Kay) Sauter of St. Charles, Dr. Karen (Paul) Wrobbel of Fox River Grove, and Eric (Marybeth) Sauter of Winfield, ten grandchildren, Jennifer (Christopher) Kudla, Jonathan (Christen) Hulgan, Jason (Christie) Hulgan, Cheri Sauter, Beth (Jon) Gorden, Rebekah (Alexander) Stathakis, and Carl, Matthew, Torrey, and Krista Sauter, and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian, his parents, two brothers, and one sister.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 6, from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 7, at 2:00 p.m. at Windsor Park, 124 Windsor Park Dr., in Carol Stream. Interment is private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
