Obituary

Raymond John Ludwig, age 77, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died Sunday, April 22, 2012, at home. He was born July 16, 1934 in Chicago, IL.

Ray was a perfectionist, which was demonstrated by his working for close to 50 years as a decorating contractor/small business owner. He enjoyed supporting his wife, Betty, as franchise owner and operators of the Cock Robin in Wheaton, in the 70's and 80's.

Ray was devoted to his family and enjoyed camping trips, building canoes and fishing up north. He was an active member for 35 years of the Wheaton Elks and formerly served as the Exalted Ruler in Lodge #2258. With the Elks he could be found doing volunteer work on projects like the train show which raised money for charities. He was an avid bowler collecting numerous titles with his wicked hook.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Lou Ludwig; three children, David (Therese) Ludwig of Gilbert, AZ; John Ludwig of Mesa, AZ, Lisa (Scott) Whetzal of Oswego, IL; seven grandchildren, Shannon, Emilie, and Chad Ludwig, and Alissa McCabe, Jordan Ludwig, and Jessica (Randy) Suttle and Jason Whetzal; his sister, Anna Hill; and his brother, James (Dolores) Ludwig.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Ludwig, and his sister, Ruth Wier.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 0S233 Church St., in Winfield, IL. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.
