IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ramesh L.
Ajwani
June 10, 1946 – August 4, 2024
Ramesh "Ron" Ajwani passed away peacefully at home in Mokena, IL. on Sunday, August 4, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born June 10, 1946 in Karachi, India (now Pakistan) to Lalsingh & Saraswati (nee Wadhwani) Ajwani.
He was the youngest of eleven children, with his late eldest brother Gobind being like a father to him.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, Luella (Kautz); his children Nicole (Mark) Kittnar & Clark (Carolina) Ajwani; his grandchildren Alex, Sloane & Grey Kittnar; and his sister Kavita "Baby" Karnaney.
After the India/Pakistan partition in 1947, his family moved to Bombay, India where he grew up until following his brother Prem to the United States at age 22. During his time in India, he was very athletic excelling at cricket and badminton. After the move to the US, it was with the introduction from Prem's wife who worked with Luella, that Ramesh and Luella met at a party where they were the only single ones there. At that time, Ramesh was determined to become successful in the US with a very strong work ethic. He spent tireless days working various jobs and taking night classes before given an opportunity by one of his best friends to interview with Heritage Bank. Offered the job, Ramesh worked his way up the ladder, while also pursing and achieving an MBA, to become Senior Vice President and Chief Loan Officer as the bank became First Midwest Bank. Ramesh and Luella resided in Chicago enjoying life to its fullest before settling down in Homewood, IL and then further to Mokena, IL. In addition to raising their own two children, Ramesh and Luella took in Luella's youngest sister Brenda, Ramesh's nephew Bobby and niece Neeta to guide them and love them as their own.
Ramesh loved golfing with his friends and family, being a long-time member at Prestwick Country Club. Ramesh was an extremely generous and self-less man, sharing his successes with those in need and providing many favors without expecting anything in return. This kindness led to incredible friendships lasting over 50 years where those friends become part of his family. He was the go-to person of both his and Luella's extended families for his wisdom and guidance, leading him to be the rock of the family. More than anything, he was a family man spending his time with Luella, Nicole, and Clark enjoying vacations, fine dining, and drinking scotch whisky. Ramesh also continued to keep up with his fitness with going to the gym regularly, playing racquetball, and throwing the baseball with his son. In his later years, his identity became grandpa, not only to Nicole's children but also Bobby and his wife Poonam's two boys Eshan and Rohan. He absolutely loved and lived for his grandchildren. He had one motto, and that was "family first."
