Ralph Charles Schultz, 94, a resident of Lexington Square of Lombard and formerly of Racine, WI, died in Lombard, on February 15. He was born in Milwaukee, WI, on August 11, 1910 to Henry F. and Hildegard (Dethloff) Schultz.
On June 24, 1933, he married Laura Koepnick, a college classmate, in Milwaukee. A graduate of Milwaukee Boys' Tech and the Milwaukee State Teachers College (now University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee) in 1931, Mr. Schultz was a math and science teacher and coach at Slinger (WI) High School from 1931 to 1942. Moving to Racine in 1942, he worked as a cost estimator for the Young Radiator Company of Racine from 1942-1957. From 1957 until his retirement in 1976, he taught biology for the Kenosha (WI) Unified School District.
He committed his life to Jesus Christ in 1932 during evangelistic services held by Paul Rader at the Gospel Tabernacle in Milwaukee. He was a member of Calvary Memorial Church in Racine for 58 years, serving as an adult Sunday School teacher, deacon, and visitation pastor for many years. He directed the Voice of Christian Youth weekly radio broadcast over WRJN for a decade during the 1940's and 1950's, served on the board of Southeastern Wisconsin Youth for Christ, and was a volunteer with the Gideons. After moving to Illinois in 2000, he attended Lombard Bible Church.
He is survived by his wife Laura, sons, Gordon (Christine) of Wettingen, Switzerland and Richard (Carol) of Wheaton, and five grandchildren, Christopher Schultz of Interlaken, Switzerland, Stephanie (Christian) Lennartsson of Stockholm, Sweden, Rebekka Schultz of Wettingen, and Peter and David Schultz of Wheaton. He was preceded in death by his sister Evelyn Larson and granddaughter Ellen Marie Schultz.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, at Calvary Memorial Church, 4001 Washington Avenue, in Racine, with Pastor Nathan James officiating. Interment will be in West Lawn Memorial Park, Racine, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the Gideons International, PO Box 140800, Nashville, TN, 37214.
