IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ralph
Oswald
March 2, 1942 – September 24, 2025
Ralph Oswald, 83, of Winfield, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born on March 2, 1942, Ralph was the dearly loved son of Eric and Mildred Oswald. He devoted more than 60 years to Chicago Mold Engineering Company, the business his father founded in 1944, where he served with pride as CEO and President. Today, his son Jeff carries on that legacy, ensuring the company remains a family tradition.
Ralph's greatest joy was his family. He will be remembered for his kindness, his quick humor that could light up any room, and his generous spirit. He cherished every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and the many nieces and nephews who adored Uncle Ralph. He loved restoring classic cars and especially enjoyed boating and water skiing on Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. To all who knew him, Ralph's love was unwavering, his laughter unforgettable, and his presence a true comfort—always ready with a smile, a story, and a beer in hand.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betsy, who shared a lifetime of love and memories with him. He is also survived by his brother, Erik, and his sister, Diane (Jim) Green; his children, Elizabeth (Steve) Wheeler, Caroline (David) Woodward, Jeff (Gina) Oswald, and Katie (Steve) Klingberg; and his grandchildren, Jack, Josh, Payton, and Tabitha — each of whom brought him immense pride and happiness. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother in-law Robert Groote, his sister-in-law, Audrey (Erik) Oswald and his niece Stephanie Olivarez.
A service honoring Ralph's life will take place on Saturday, October 25, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Chapel, 130 N. West Street, Wheaton, Illinois. Family and friends are warmly welcome to join in remembering and celebrating Ralph.
Ralph's life was a true gift. His love, values, and devotion to family will continue to live on through those he leaves behind — a legacy that will be cherished for generations.
