Phyllis Marie (née Charron) Therrien, age 97, a resident of Downers Grove, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025. She was born August 17, 1927, in Braintree, MA and was adopted by William George and Evelina Tanguay Charron of North Adams, MA.

Phyllis grew up in the beautiful Berkshires of western Massachusetts, where she met her husband, Bernard Edmond Therrien, in Catholic elementary school, where students spoke French for half of the school day and English for the other half. Phyllis and Bernie dated as teenagers in the late 1930s and reconnected at a 1957 wedding. They married on May 3, 1958, and moved together nearly a dozen times for Bernie's career in sales and industrial safety. They lived in Rhode Island, Texas, Indiana, Ohio, Connecticut, Michigan, and Pennsylvania before settling in Illinois after retirement. They celebrated 58 wedding anniversaries before Bernie's death at age 92 in 2016.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Marcia (Scott) Ryles, Lois (Steven) Padovani, and Scott (Claudia) Therrien, and five grandchildren, Emily (Emily Bacalao, MD), Edward, Allison, Ryan, and Derek.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, grandson, Alexander Ryles, and her older sister, Theresa Marie (Charron) Law Robert.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 4801 Main St, Downers Grove, IL 60515. Interment will be held at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, where her U.S. Navy World War II veteran husband is interred.
