Phyllis McGlathery, age 73, a resident of Wheaton, Illinois, went to be with the Lord on December 28, 2021.  She was born October 9, 1948 in Killen, Alabama to Calvin and Mattie Ann Roberson.

Phyllis grew up in Alabama until moving to the west side of Chicago.  She met Mike McGlathery at Emmanuel Bible Church and they were married on April 6, 1968. They raised their family in Wheaton. Her focus was always on her family and providing for them in any way she could.  Cooking for her family and others was always one of her favorite things to do.  Family vacations all over the country always brought her joy but her favorite place to travel to was always back to Alabama to visit family. While her sons were young, she served as a crossing guard and did after school child care.  She worked at Christianity Today in the '90s.

She is survived by her husband, Mike McGlathery of Wheaton, two sons, John (Tosha) McGlathery of Springfield, Illinois and Daniel McGlathery of Lombard and 5 grandchildren, Easton, Colston, Sienna, Madison and Jackson.  She is also survived by her sister, Sheila Wawrzyniak.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Sandra Gruhlke.

A visitation will be held on January 6th, 2022, from 10am to 11:30am at Hultgren Funeral Home in Wheaton, Illinois. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Beverly Cemetery in Blue Island, Illinois at approximately 1pm.  Luncheon details to be provided following the service at the funeral home.
