Phyllis M. Hellman, a longtime resident of Wheaton, IL, passed peacefully on March 30, 2023 at the age of 88. Phyllis was born in Chicago, IL on February 17, 1935. Prior to moving to Wheaton, IL, Phyllis was a graduate of Providence High School and Elmhurst College, where she obtained her degree in education.

Phyllis was a loving wife to her husband of 55 years, Robert (2011). She was a devoted mother to Robert (Kelley) and Martin (2001), and a doting grandmother to Erik, Jared (Emily), Michael, and Sophia. She cherished her friendships with Lolita, Jan, Patsy, Tandra, and the many alumni of Providence High School.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her favorite cousin, Kathryn Dickholtz (2020), with whom she shared a lifetime of joy and memories.

Phyllis was a traditionalist at heart and loved preparing Sunday and holiday meals for family and friends. She was an expert baker, her assortment of Christmas cookies were a staple of the holiday season. She  was a lover of animals and donated to many humane causes. The animals of her neighborhood frequented her house often for a free meal or treat. Phyllis was an avid reader and was a common visitor to the Wheaton Library.

A visitation will be held Friday, April 21, 2023 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, IL. Church Service will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023 beginning at 10:00am at St Michael Church in Wheaton. Entombment will follow service at Assumption Cemetery in Winfield, IL for immediate family.
