Philip A. Woods, age 60, of North Aurora, IL, returned to his heavenly home on Thursday, September 15, 2016 after a valiant battle with cancer. His devotion to his family, friends, and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.

Phil was born on July 1, 1956 to the late James and Patricia Woods. He was immersed in the religious community that would be his lifelong support from an early age. He graduated with a degree from the Roosevelt University. He was Chief Financial Officer for Outreach Community Ministries.

Phil was an educator and mentor at heart. He was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how big or small. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.

Phil is survived by his three brothers, Jim (Carla) Woods of Kankakee, IL, Tom (Kathy) Woods of Inman, SC, and Jeff (Geri) Woods of Ladysmith, WI; along with many nieces, nephews, and dear close friends that Phil would call his family.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Pat Woods; and his sister Janet Greenberg.

A memorial service for Phil will be held at the Church of the Resurrection , 935 W. Union Ave, Wheaton, IL at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 22nd. Father Trevor McMaken will officiate the service.
