IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Philip C.
Tenney
April 15, 1940 – April 21, 2024
In loving memory of Philip C. Tenney, who peacefully went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 21, 2024. Phil was surrounded by the warmth of his family. He was 84 years old.
Born on April 15,1940, in Newton, Massachusetts, Philip's life journey brought him to Wheaton, Illinois, where he grew under the guidance of his parents, Dr. Merrill, professor and Dean at Wheaton College, and Helen Tenney. Phil's Wheaton connections ran deeply, shaping him into a compassionate and devoted man.
Philip's educational journey led him through the halls of Wheaton Academy and Wheaton College. While attending College, he not only earned a degree in Business, but also found love in the heart of his childhood friend, Lynne Blomquist. Their union on August 22,1964, was the beginning of a solid partnership built on love, respect and unwavering support.
Throughout his professional career, Philip epitomized integrity, warmth and genuine love for people. As a salesperson and trainer for Nestle, Eight O'Clock Coffee, and Gust John Foods, he touched countless lives with his kindness and generosity. In retirement, his dedication continued as a car porter for Toyota, where his cheerful disposition brought smiles to those who crossed his path.
Philip's faith was the cornerstone of his life. He enjoyed attending the Men's Bible Study at Wheaton Bible Church. Phil found joy in sharing his wisdom and passion for investing while gathering with friends over breakfast. He often offered guidance and encouragement in financial matters.
A devoted husband and loving father, Philip's greatest joy came from providing for his family. His quick wit and infectious laughter brightened dark days, leaving a legacy of love and laughter that will endure for generations to come.
Philip is survived by his beloved wife, Lynne, his cherished daughters, Mary (Adam) Henderson of Ft. Wayne, and Janet (Eric) George of Wheaton, along with his adored grandchildren, Grace, Caleb, and Joy. Though preceded in death by his grandson, Isaac Craig George, and his brother, Robert Tenney, Philip's spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were touched by his love, humor and kindness.
A visitation to honor Philip's life will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home in Wheaton, followed by a funeral service on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.Interment will take place at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
