Obituary

Peter James Aughnay, 47, passed away June 1, 2017. Peter was born on April 13, 1970, in Winfield, Illinois. He is the beloved son of Marsha Snyder and her husband Chuck Snyder, and the late Philip James Aughnay.

Pete grew up in Glen Ellyn and Wheaton playing T-ball, baseball, and pee wee football. He attended Churchill elementary school and Hadley Junior High in Glen Ellyn. Pete graduated from Wheaton Central High School in 1988, earning varsity letters in football, baseball, and wrestling. He also enjoyed playing hockey with his club team.
He studied graphic arts and aviation at Central Missouri State University, and held a private pilots license.

Pete transferred to Western Michigan University, was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, and graduated with honors, earning a bachelor's degree in Printing Engineering.

Pete was an extremely talented carpenter and wood worker. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a Chicago sports enthusiast, as well as an avid golfer, who enjoyed boating, water skiing, fishing, snowmobiling, snowboarding, sky diving, and bungee jumping. He was a lover of life!

Peter is survived by his son, Payton James Aughnay; mother, Marsha Snyder (Chuck); sisters Kristin Aughnay, Erin Aughnay Pickrell (Bob); Jaime Aughnay; brother Doc Snyder (Lisa) and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Preceded in death by father Philip Aughnay and grandparents Harry "Pete" and Dorothy (Nauman) Edmonds, and Frank and June (Mix) Aughnay.
