Perry Dean Woodward, age 94, a resident of Vero Beach, FL and formerly a longtime resident of Glen Ellyn, IL died Sunday, August 6th after a long illness. He was born on February 6, 1923, in Cedar Rapids, IA to Charles and Bessie Woodward.

He graduated from Coe College and received his MBA from Northwestern University. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army, participated in the Battle of the Bulge, and was briefly a POW. Subsequently he was President of Telephones Inc. and later co-owned Answering DuPage and Kane County, Inc. with his wife. He served on the Board of Directors of ServiceMaster Industries for 25 years.

He was married to Esther Woodward for 57 years until her death in 2004, and subsequently to Lucille Woodward until her death in 2010. He was a longtime resident of Glen Ellyn where he was active in Rotary and supported the college scholarship program over many years. He was an avid gardener and served as a Master Gardener at the University of Illinois Annex and frequently opened his gardens to the public. He later lived in Wheaton, IL and Lakeland and Vero Beach, FL.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Woodward, of Grand Blanc, MI; two children, Stuart Woodward of Vero Beach, FL, and Kim Woodward of Kenosha, WI; and three grandchildren, Seth (Elizabeth), Chas and Emma.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynn Woodward.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until the start of a funeral service to be held at 10:00 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL.

Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
