Peggy
Moore
April 9, 1923 – August 19, 2017
Peggy Moore (nee Peggy Lou Jones) born April 9, 1923 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Erwin Roe and Ruth Nichols Jones died at home on August 19, 2017 at the age of 94. Peggy was the fourth of six children and one of five daughters.
The Jones family moved to the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago in 1927 where she lived until 1957. Peggy spent the rest of her life in the Chicago area, including many years in Park Ridge. Most recently she resided in Crystal Lake with her loving daughter, April Kasper, who cared for her during the last eight years of her life.
Peggy graduated from Chicago's Parker High School where she was the Sports editor and a gossip columnist. Following high school, she worked at Continental Bank as a page, but left to attend Moser Business College, a secretarial school. Upon graduation, she was a secretary at Owens Illinois Can Company.
In February 1946, she married Warren F. Moore, then a Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps whom she had met on a blind date when he was home on leave during World War II. They were married for 68 years until his death in January 2014. She continued to work as a secretary while Warren completed his college degree and then became a homemaker until all of her children were out of elementary school. In 1972, she began working at Maine South High School as a paraprofessional and continued there, primarily as a secretary in the attendance office, until her retirement in 1995.
Peggy loved sports, especially the Chicago Cubs, the Green Bay Packers, and enjoyed watching golf on TV in her retirement. She was active in three churches during her lifetime, the Englewood Presbyterian Church, South Park Church in Park Ridge, and the Arlington Heights Free Church.
Peggy and Warren had four children: Lynda (William) McKay, Nancy (Warren) Beach, April (Peter) Kasper, and Warren II (Tami Hultgren). She left 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her younger sister, Patricia Jones Sparling of Dayton, Ohio and many friends.
