Pearl J. Wendt, age 97, a resident of the Holmstad in Batavia, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021.

Mom was born on August 25,1923 in Chicago to Peter and Marie Christensen. Her parents had emigrated from Norway. Mom was the youngest of four children (Alice, Arnold, Margaret, and mom). They lived through the depression and much of the frugality of that time influenced her life.  She was married to dad (Joe) at the age of 25. What she and dad wanted most was for their children and grandchildren to know of Jesus' love and forgiveness. Their desire was that we all experience salvation in Christ.  We spent many happy years at Norwood Bible Church with them. Dad passed shortly before their 50th wedding anniversary.  Mom lived these last 22 years at The Holmstad in Batavia where she had many dear friends. We are so thankful to have had such a wonderful mother.

She is survived by her daughters: Shirley Nagel of Stillwater, MN, Loretta (John) Shumate of Waukegan, IL & Karen (John) Fjellander of Wheaton, IL; her grandchildren Gregg (Allison) Nagel, Amanda (Andy) Gammons & Brad (Sarah) Nagel; Wendy (Chris) Wisinski, Heidi (Tony) Shumate - Gonzales & Timothy Shumate; Paul Fjellander & Karla (Mike) Gerbitz. Also survived by her 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph & her siblings Alice, Arnold, Margaret.

A visitation will be held Sunday, August 1, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service to be held at 3:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187. Burial will be private at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, IL.
