Dr. Paul E. Loth, age 89, a resident of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, died Thursday, February 3, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. He was born April 12, 1915 in Buffalo, NY.
Paul earned a BA in Biblical Education from Columbia Bible College, an MA in Theology from Winona Lake School of Theology, a BA in History and Government from the University of Buffalo, an MS in Elementary Education from SUNY College at Buffalo, and an EdD from Temple University. He was honored with a DD from Trinity College in Florida.
Dr. Loth pastored Bethel Baptist Church in Buffalo, NY in the early part of his career. He then became a professor at Philadelphia College of Bible, where he served as the Director of the Bible-Christian Education program. He was the President of the Evangelical Teacher Training Association for over 25 years. Dr. Loth was the Chair of the founding committee of the Caribbean Association of Bible Colleges. He was an active member of Village Green Baptist Church in Glen Ellyn.
He is survived by three children, Joanne M. (Kenneth) Strike of Thendara, NY, Esther C. (Melbourne Ziska) Loth of Naperville and Paul J. (Carol) Loth of Carol Stream; four grandchildren, Daniel (Diane) and Janet Strike, and Tiffany and Megan Loth; a great-granddaughter, Maya Strike.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Janet; his brother, John; his sister, Ruth; and his great-grandson, Adam Strike.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 7, from 9:00 A.M. until the time of a funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Village Green Baptist Church, 200 S. Lambert Rd., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. Interment will be private at Wheaton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and in Dr. Paul E. Loth's honor, memorials may be directed to Evangelical Training Association (CEF Fund), PO Box 327, Wheaton, IL 60189 for the distribution of ETA books to Caribbean Bible Colleges.
